MURIEL R. “MU” (FOLEY) McVEIGH – of CT, August 12th, passed away at Village Green of Wallingford after a long courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Cathy McNerney and her devoted son-in-law Brian of Hamden, CT, her devoted sister, Mary “Dolly” Doherty of Burlington, MA, her very special brother-in-law, Richard T. Rafferty of Woburn, MA, and several cherished nieces and nephews. She worked for years at the Edward Malley Co. in New Haven before moving back to MA in 1973 after the death of her husband, Wayne J. McVeigh. She was a Passport Agent for the US Postal Service in Lawrence, MA until her retirement in 1997. She returned to Hamden at that time to enjoy her retirement near her daughter and son-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne J. McVeigh; her sons, Ronald J. McVeigh and Paul W. McVeigh; her parents, John F. Foley and Catherine Nolan Foley; her brother, John H. “Jack” Foley; and her sisters, Marion E. Montano and Catherine “Kay” Rafferty.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Village Green of Wallingford for their kind and loving care of Muriel for the past 3 years and to the Masonic Home Health & Hospice of Wallingford for their help, compassion, and expertise during her last week of life. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Mass in St. Margaret’s Church, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell, MA on Saturday, August 22nd at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home.
