OBITUARY:

Margaret T. “Theresa” (Gannon) Aprile passed away Saturday, July 4th at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. The beloved wife of the late Louis Aprile, she was eighty-four years of age.

Born and raised in Cambridge, “Theresa,” as she was affectionately known, was one of seven children of the late Francis and Margaret (Regan) Gannon. She attended the Sacred Heart School graduating with the Class of 1949. Following graduation, Theresa began working at the Deran Confectionary and later, kept busy at Lechmere and the Marshalls Distribution Center.

While at work at Deran, Theresa met a truly wonderful man, Louis Aprile. They courted for a several years and married in 1951. They brought four children into the world and needless to say Theresa was kept very busy! Living in Somerville for a couple of years, they later decided to move to a smaller city and chose a lovely home in the West side of the city. A true family woman, Theresa was completely dedicated to raising her family. They all enjoyed spending many happy summers at Salisbury Beach. Theresa loved being there for any and all of her children’s accomplishments. You could often find her on the fields or at the rink cheering on her sons at their many baseball and hockey games. Later in life, she delighted in becoming “Nan” to her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sadly, the Aprile’s daughter Patricia passed away in the late eighties. Mr. and Mrs. Aprile dedicated themselves to raising Patty’s daughter Alicia, who was just four years old at the time, with all the vim and vigor that they raised their own children with. Theresa continued all family traditions and you would often find her cheering on all of her grandchildren during their sporting activities, dance recitals and academic successes.

Theresa was a wonderfully creative cook! Every Sunday, family all joined together at the homestead looking forward to her “one of a kind”, delicious pot roast dinners! Always spending time with family, she so enjoyed playing a good game of cards together or trips to Foxwoods with her children, sisters, and grandchildren.

Theresa’s most favorite time, though, was always time spent with family. In the back yard or in the house the entire family gathered together for pool parties, birthdays, or just celebrating the day!

In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Louis Aprile; her daughter, Patricia Aprile; and her siblings, Francis and William Gannon and Mary Iantosca.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Nancy Amara and her husband Filippo of Woburn, Glenn Aprile and his wife Helene of NH, and Edward Aprile of Woburn; her siblings, Helen Ledogar-Gannon of Needham, Barbara Vartanian of RI, and Thomas Gannon and his wife Gail of Cambridge; her grandchildren, Alicia Aprile, Sebastiano “Yano”, Philip, and Alessandra Amara, Amanda and Eddie Aprile, Katelyn Aprile, and Ashley DeVito; her great-granchildren, Amyah, Nora, and Vera; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Wednesday, July 8th at 10:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 11:30. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
