HAROLD E. “HUNKA” ANDERSON, JR. – of Woburn, Tuesday, May 12th. Beloved husband of Marie A. (Muse) Anderson. Devoted father of Laurie Jerome and her husband Michael of Westwood, Deborah Webb and her husband Mark of Tewskbury, David Anderson and his wife Maria of South Boston, and Kathleen Nett and her husband Keith of Woburn. Dear brother of Shirley Lundin and her husband Warren of Woburn and brother-in-law of Eileen Muse Sousa and her husband Gerald of Holyoke. Cherished “Grampy” of Eric, Haley, and Jenna Webb, Nicole and David Anderson, and Kayla, Kelly, and Kevin Nett. Also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, May 15th at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Hunka’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or the Boys and Girls Club of Woburn, Charles Gardner Lane, Woburn, MA 01801.

OBITUARY:

Harold E. “Hunka” Anderson, Jr. passed away on May 12th after a lengthy illness. He was seventy-four years of age. The beloved husband of Marie A. (Muse) Anderson, they were married for fifty-four years.

Born in Winchester and raised in Woburn, he was the only son of two children of the late Harold E. and Helen (Nicholson) Anderson, Sr. Harold spent his entire life in Woburn and graduated with the Class of 1958 from Woburn High, and was an outstanding quarterback for the Tanners. He played and enjoyed many sports, and was a proud presence at his children’s and grandchildren’s events and activities. He also had a caring affection for animals.

Harold worked at Atlantic Gelatin and General Electric and for many years drove school buses for local students and athletes. Harold was a familiar face to many as he owned and operated a hot dog wagon at Horn Pond and then on the North St. side of Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield.

Generations of his family enjoyed their summers in Old Orchard Beach, Maine and he and his wife shared 25 winters at their home in Deerfield Beach, FL where they formed many dear friendships.

Harold was a Charter member of the Woburn City Athletic Club, the Woburn Irish American Club and the South End Italia Club.

Harold was predeceased by his parents, the late Harold E. and Helen (Nicholson) Anderson.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Marie A. (Muse) Anderson; his children, Laurie Jerome and her husband Michael of Westwood, Debbie Webb and her husband Mark of Tewksbury, David Anderson and his wife Maria of South Boston, and Kathy Nett and her husband Keith of Woburn; his sister, Shirley Lundin and her husband Warren “Bubba” of Woburn; his sister-in-law, Eileen (Muse) Sousa and her husband Gerry of Holyoke; his grandchildren, Eric, Haley, and Jenna Webb, Nicole and David Anderson, and Kayla, Kelly, and Kevin Nett; and many loving nieces and nephews.
