OBITUARY:

Patricia R. “Pat” (Mearls) Cahalane passed away at her home, Friday, May 8th. The beloved wife of the late Eugene Cahalane, she was seventy-five years old.

Born in Woburn, Pat was one of four children and a twin daughter of the late John J. and Catherine E. (Metrano) Mearls. Raised in the south end of Woburn, Pat went to St. Charles Elementary School and graduated from Woburn High School with the Class of 1957.

In 1966 Pat married Gene Cahalane, to whom she was devoted to for over thirty-four years. Bringing five children into the world, needless to say she was kept very busy throughout their years. Cape Ann was always the destination for fun in the sun. As the children grew, Pat returned to work at Raytheon where she retired from in 2002.

Pat and her husband loved to travel, with Ireland being the country of choice! Wherever the children were living in or out of state, California or Maine, she always made plans to visit. Family was truly what Pat’s life was all about. A rather quiet woman, she always enjoyed family cookouts and gatherings. Her home, a sibling’s home or her children’s home, wherever there was a gathering, she was either coordinating it or participating in some kind way! Nana absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren. Between the school and sporting activities she was always on the run!

A faith-filled woman, she instilled in her children and grandchildren the true value of keeping the faith. A hard worker throughout her lifetime, she always gave a hundred and ten percent of herself to all that she did. Never one for notoriety, she worked endlessly in the background, helping her church, family, and friends with much kindness, understanding, and love.

In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband, Eugene T. Cahalane.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Daniel “Dan” Cahalane and his wife Joanne of North Andover, Patricia “Patty” McKenna of Lowell, William “Bill” Cahalane of CA, Barbara A. Page and her husband Jeff of Woburn, Jennifer J. Lincoln and her husband James of Billerica; her siblings, John J. Mearls, Jr. and his wife Roberta of FL, Catherine MacDonald, Carol Getty, both of Woburn; her sister-in-law, Barbara Girouard of NH; her grandchildren, Dalaina, Shawn, Liam, Colin, Christine, Michael, and Joey; her great-granddaughter, Destiny; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Wednesday, May 13th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 10. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Pat’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made in her memory to the VNA of Middlesex-East & Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Avenue, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
