OBITUARY:

Arthur J. “Artie” Tetrault III passed away Saturday, April 18th at the Lahey Clinic. A longtime resident of Woburn, he was fifty-five years of age.

Born in Woburn, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Frances (Foley) Tetrault. One of six children, they grew up on the West Side, where they were raised and educated. Artie was a graduate of Woburn High School with the Class of 1977. Following High School he began working for Riley’s Tannery, where he became a “Woburn Tanner” just like his grandfather had been!

Hockey was always Artie’s sport of choice. When the Joyce Middle School was built and the O’Brien Rink opened, they secured the first hour of play/ice time for Friday nights, naming themselves the “Courtney Hockey Club”. This group of family members has held that hour of play right up to present day and Artie had remained a significant part of that group. Same hour, same families!

Artie also went on to college nights, graduating from Northeastern University, Summa Cum Laude, with a degree in Software Engineering.

Artie was very devoted to his two children. He was part of just about everything they did. Artie’s daughter Janelle was born with special needs, and he did everything possible to make sure she was a part of, included in, and participated in all that was available, never missing a step.

Artie was a man of insurmountable compassion and extreme intelligence, and was devoted to his family. A man of simple pleasures, loving heart, sincere and honest in every aspect of his life, has certainly left this world having touched the hearts and lives of all who had the pleasure of sharing life with “Artie.”

In addition to his parents, Artie was sadly predeceased by his brothers, James and Dennis Tetrault.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Jonathan M. and Janelle K. Tetrault of Tewksbury; his fiancée, Donna DellAnno of Woburn; his siblings, Kathryn Kaknes of Florida, Patricia A. Bushmick and her husband Kenneth of Woburn, and Barry J. Tetrault and his wife Lisa of Westford; and his granddaughters, Carli, Holly and Tori; as well as his many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday evening, April 23rd at 7:45 p.m. Relatives and friends may call Thursday evening from 4 to 7:45 prior to the Service. Remembrances may be made in Artie’s memory to S.T.E.P. Special Teams for Exceptional People, P.O. Box 8857, Lowell, MA 01853.

  8. Such a sad time this is for my family. Artie and my mom(his fiance) were soulmates. Maybe they didn’t figure that out til late in their lives but once they did, they were the happiest two people can be. My three girls loved their Grampy to the moon and back, and he will be forever missed.
    Love you Gramps
