OBITUARY:

June E. (Bennett) Melaragni passed away at home Tuesday evening, February 24th, with her beloved husband John A. Melaragni by her side. June was seventy-eight years of age.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Theresa (Keating) Bennett. Raised and educated in Dorchester she was a graduate of Dorchester High School with the Class of 1954. Following High School, June entered the working world. She began as a secretary at Raytheon for a number of years and then ITT, AMD, and finished her profession at the Department of Public Works in Winchester.

In 1976 she was vacationing in Hawaii with her family, when she was introduced to John Melaragni from Winchester MA! John at the time was working for the Dept. of the Navy, in the underwater weights and measurements division. They continued their courtship back here and in 1977 they were married and have made their home in Winchester ever since. She adapted very well to her immediate family and as the years have progressed she became “Grandma” to five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, adoring each and everyone!

June and John loved to travel and golf. They both retired at the same time in June 1997 and they devoted themselves to travelling and golfing at least five days a week! Europe, Italy, Germany, and return trips to Hawaii filled the years with so many wonderful memories.

A very kind, faith filled woman, she had a great passion for her family and life itself. June lived with the zest and great appreciation for how fortunate she was through out her life.

June was sadly predeceased by her siblings, Robert Bennett, William Killion, Marion O’Brien, and Anna Maloney.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, John; her children, Mary Beth (Melaragni Moriarty) Doucette and her husband Dan of Winchester, Jack Melaragni and his wife Patti of NH, and William Melaragni of Billerica; her sister, Mary Killion of Billerica; her grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Scott, Stefanie, Matthew, Krissy, and Robert; her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Maggie, Ali, and Grace; her nieces, Joanne Dart and her husband Jack and Noreen Costa and her husband Tony; her greatniece and nephews, Meghan Cordeiro and her husband Daniel, Sean and Kevin Dart, and Michael and Brian Costa; and her great-grandnephew, Joey Cordeiro; as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Saturday, February 28th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
