Catherine E. “Cathy” (Mahoney) Hildebrand, passed away at Winchester Hospital Sunday, September 30th. The beloved wife of the late Donald P. Hildebrand, was eighty four years of age.

Born in Boston, she was one of three children born to the late Daniel F. and Cecilia (Brown) Mahoney. Raised in Charlestown, she attended school there and was a graduate of Charlestown High School. Following high school she began working at Terminal Freight Company where she was introduced to a fine young gentleman, Donald Hildebrand. They dated a while and in 1959 they married. Moving to Woburn the year following their marriage, they made their home in the “Newlands” section of the city, where she has remained. Two sons and a daughter filled their lives. Involved in their academic, sporting and lifelong pursuits they were kept quite busy. Summer vacations were always at the Cape and so looked forward to. Christmas was Mrs. Hildebrand’s favorite time of the year. Family and friends would always gather at their home for this yearly event. From the spirit of Christmas itself to the sharing of singing Christmas carols and gifts, she cherished each moment.

Throughout the years Mrs. Hildebrand belonged to the TOPS organization. There she established many friendships that have been ongoing throughout her lifetime. Not only attending meetings frequently, they all enjoyed many different trips and social gatherings together.

In 1996 Mrs. Hildebrand retired from her position as Office Manager at W.T. Hillcrest. She then began going to Florida for a few weeks, which later turned into months during the winter season. There she had a host of friends with whom she kept very busy. Each day of the week they all would venture out for cribbage games, flea markets, or shopping. Mrs. Hildebrand’s greatest love was that of her family. A very special “Nana” she so enjoyed her grandchildren. Whether she was at home or in Florida, “Nana’s was the place to be.

A very devoted wife, mother, “nana” and friend, Mrs. Hildebrand will be remembered for her love, wonderful sense of humor and very happy and honest disposition.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Hildebrand was predeceased by her dear husband Donald of thirty six years and her brothers Daniel and John Mahoney.

She is lovingly survived by her sons Mark Hildebrand and his wife Elaine of Tewksbury, Douglas Hildebrand and his wife Kimberly of Woburn and daughter Donna L. Hildebrand of NH, her sister-in-law Josephine Mahoney of Lynn and brother-in-law Arthur Hildebrand of FL, her dear grandchildren Daniel and Joseph Hildebrand, Jessica, Eric and Melissa Gagnon and three great-grand children.

A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home, Wednesday 4-8p.m.
