Vincent J. Scali – in Winchester, Thursday, March 1st. Beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Heffernan) Scali. Devoted father of Maureen Grassi of Burlington, Paul Scali of New Orleans, and Steven Scali and his wife Cynthia of Winchester. Dear brother of the late Rose Sarno and her husband Emilio “Mel.” Cherished grandfather of Julie and Daniel Grassi and Nicole, Vincent, and Amy Scali. Loving uncle of Gerald “Jerry” Sarno and his wife Judy of West Boylston. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Monday, March 5th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Eulalia’s Church, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Calling hours on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made in Mr. Scali’s memory to St. Matthews Food Bank of Dorchester, c/o St. Eulalia’s Church, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester, MA 01890.

OBITUARY:

Vincent J. Scali passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday morning March 1st. The beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Heffernan) Scali he was eighty seven years of age.

Born in Somerville, he was one of two children born to the late Domenic and Clementina (Gonsales) Scali, who had both come over from Italy. He was raised in Somerville, attended school there and was a graduate of Somerville High School. Following high school Mr. Scali began his career with Chevrolet Starting in the parts department eventually moving to salesman, where he won many awards for all of his accomplishments in that position and then moved into the General Managers position with Davidson Chevrolet, which he held right up until his retirement in 2007. Mr. Scali was very well known and respected throughout his career, which expanded over sixty five years.

In 1961 he married Mary Heffernan of Dorchester to whom he was devoted to for over the next forty eight years. They began living in Dorchester for a time where he assisted his wife in caring for her ailing father. Shortly after that they moved to Arlington briefly where they began their family and then in 1968, moved to Winchester, where they made their home. This home was designed and built by both he and his brother in law Emilio “Mel” Sarno, who was also from Winchester.

They raised their three children there, and it was the hub for all of the family activities. Mr Scali was very proud of his children throughout the years and when his grandchildren began arriving, he could not have been happier. Mr. Scali was a very talented man not only with his expertice with cars and mechanics, but also having built his own home. He learned quite a bit and carried all those experiences throughout his lifetime. When something needed to be fixed at home or in the neighborhood, he was there.

Mr. Scali was a very hard working, dedicated gentleman,. Throughout his lifetime he aspired to be the best he could possibly be as a son, brother, husband, father,uncle, and in law, which he had successfully achieved.

In addition to his parents, Mr Scali was predeceased by his wife Mary, who passed away in 2009, his sister Rose Sarno and her husband Emilio “Mel.”

He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Maureen Grassi of Burlington, his sons, Paul Scali of New Orleans, and Steven Scali and his wife Cynthia of Winchester his grandchildren, Julie and Daniel Grassi and Nicole, Vincent, and Amy Scali, and his nephew, Gerald “Jerry” Sarno and his wife Judy of West Boylston.     Please accept our condolences on the loss of you Dad. He was a good man who had a posiive influence on those whom he touched. I used to love to see him when he would visit Steve to help him with the projects arround his house. May all of you be at peace knowing he was a man who touched so many.

    And Steve, I will always remember the love wagon he gave you when the Celebrity died.
