DIANNE M. (TOFURI) SCHAEFFER – age 62, of Stoneham, formerly of Woburn and Douglassville, PA, February 18th. Beloved wife of Thomas R. Schaeffer. Devoted mother of David Schaeffer and his wife Melissa of Reading, PA, and Thomas Schaeffer, Jr. and his wife Kristina of Glendale, AZ. Loving daughter of Ann Gonsalves of Stoneham and her late husband Henry, and the late Joseph Tofuri. Dear sister of Wayne Tofuri of NV, Joseph Tofuri of FL, Maryellen Gonsalves of NY, and Ann Farley of NH. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date. Arrangements are by the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, Woburn.

OBITUARY:

Dianne M. (Tofuri) Schaeffer, 62, a native of Woburn who had lived for many years in Pennsylvania, passed away at the Golden Living Center in Lexington Saturday morning, February 18th, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Thomas R. Schaeffer for the past forty-two years.

Born and raised in Woburn, she was the daughter of Ann (Tropea) Gonsalves of Stoneham and the late Joseph Tofuri. She was a 1967 graduate of Woburn High School.

For over thirty years, Dianne resided in Douglassville, Pennsylvania with her husband and two sons. She worked as a waitress for Michael’s Restaurant there for many years, and three years ago she and her husband moved back to this area to be near her family during her illness. Dianne was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family, and particularly her grandchildren in recent years.

Preceding her in death were her father, Joseph Tofuri, and her stepfather, Henry Gonsalves.

Surviving, along with her husband Thomas, are two sons, David Schaeffer and his wife Melissa of Reading, Pennsylvania, and Thomas Schaeffer, Jr. and his wife Kristina of Glendale, Arizona, her mother, Ann Gonsalves of Stoneham, two brothers, Wayne Tofuri of Nevada, Joseph Tofuri of Florida, and two sisters, Maryellen Gonsalves of New York and Ann Farley of New Hampshire. She was also the beloved grandmother of ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date. Arrangements are by the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, Woburn.

  1. May your hearts find comfort in knowing that Jehovah God cares for us, he provided a way for our sins to be forgiven – his son, Jesus Christ – John 3:16, Psalms 83:18. Jesus Christ promised, the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out – we will be reunited with our dear loved ones again here on earth -John 5:28, 29 -Psalms 37:11, 29. My deepest sympathy to the family for a life that ended too soon.
