OBITUARY:

Jane B. (Lydon) Connolly died peacefully on Sunday evening, November 13th, 2011 with her husband Coleman and her family by her side.

Born in Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Kathleen (O’Dea) Lydon. Upon arrival in this country in 1958, she worked for the First National Supermarket in Brookline. She immersed herself in the Boston Irish culture, including attending the Irish dances on weekends. It was at one of these dances that she met the love of her life, Coleman, who had himself emigrated from Ireland a few years earlier. Coleman married his “Galway Girl,” and they took up residence in Woburn. They recently celebrated their 52nd year of marriage.

Jane was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and a devout Catholic. Her family was her life, and she led by example. Her goal for her family was for them to lead academic, moral, caring lives. She was often seen throughout the City of Woburn’s sporting events, supporting not only her children and grandchildren, but all the athletes.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Ladies Sodality in Winchester in earlier years.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Lydon of Galway, Ireland.

In addition to her husband Coleman, she is survived by her children: Kathleen Connolly, John F. Connolly and his wife Terry, Mary O’Brien and her husband Daniel, Jean Connolly and her husband Ed Cunningham, and Daniel Connolly and his wife Sandra, all of Woburn, and Diane McCarthy and her husband Allen of East Bridgewater. She also leaves a brother, Peter Lydon of Galway, Ireland, and eight grandchildren: Maura, Meaghan and Joseph O’Brien and Shawn and Ryan Connolly, all of Woburn, and Abigail, Stephanie and Coleman McCarthy of East Bridgewater. Her grandchildren were her cherished gifts whose lives she has impacted greatly.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, November 18th at 8:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home are on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in her memory to the VNA of Middlesex East & Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Avenue, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
