KAREN P. (HIGGINS) MERSEREAU – in Windsor, ME, formerly of Winchester, Sunday, July 31st. Beloved daughter of Catherine (Olson) Higgins and the late Edward W. Higgins. Loving mother of Edward A. Mersereau of HI, Timothy L. Mersereau of NE, and Amy Mersereau of CA. Dear sister of John E. Higgins and his wife Denise of Woburn and Barbara Sullivan and her husband Reed of Burlington. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Monday, August 8th at 12 Noon. Interment of her ashes will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 11 to noon, prior to the service.

OBITUARY:

Karen P. Higgins Mersereau passed away unexpectedly on Sunday July 31st, in Winslow, Maine. Born in Winchester sixty-two years ago, she was the daughter of Catherine (Olson) Higgins of Burlington and the late Edward W. Higgins. She attended Winchester Schools and was a graduate of Winchester High School, Class of 1966. Following high school she attended North Shore Community College.

She brought three children into the world, of whom she was most proud. While her children were young she worked for some time at H&R Block. Having lived in Florida and then California for a number of years, she spent over the last fifteen years in Maine. Her love of the ocean and outdoors was her calling. Karen was an extremely talented artist and would not only do paintings but also she would create her own note cards, all done in watercolors. The afghans she made over the years were always very unique and personal gifts to her family. A very quiet person by nature, Karen was a very devoted mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She had a very generous spirit and a great love of family.

Karen was predeceased by her father, Edward W. Higgins.

She is lovingly survived by her mother, Catherine (Olson) Higgins of Burlington, her children, Edward A. Mersereau of HI, Timothy L. Mersereau of NE, and Amy Mersereau of CA, her siblings, John E. Higgins and his wife Denise of Woburn and Barbara Sullivan and her husband Reed of Burlington, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Monday, August 8th at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment of her ashes will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, prior to the service.
