ROSEMARY (EIDE) SERSON – in Woburn, Monday, January 24th, beloved wife of the late John H. Serson. Devoted mother of John H. Serson and his wife Christine of Woburn, Stephen G. Serson of NH, and the late David L. Serson. Dear sister of Theresa Brennan of West Roxbury, Patricia Ramos of CO and the late George and Jack Eide. Loving grandmother of six grandchildren: Jake, Daniel, Emily, Sarah, Thomas, and Stephanie Serson, and one great-grandson, David Serson. Also survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia Serson of Berwick, ME. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, January 29th at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, 100 Washington Street, Woburn at 10. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. OBITUARY:
Rosemary (Eide) Serson of Woburn, formerly a longtime resident of Arlington, passed away on Monday, January 24th, at Winchester Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John H. Serson, Born in LaPorte, MN, eighty-six years ago, Rosemary was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Doyle) Eide. Raised in East Boston, Mrs. Serson was a graduate of East Boston High School. Subsequent to her graduating, she worked at the Watertown Arsenal during the WWII years. She later worked for GE Labs in Waltham where she held a clerical position over fifteen years.
Ultimately, Mrs. Serson was all about her family. After her marriage to John Serson in 1950, they took up residence in Cambridge before settling in Arlington. She was a loving and devoted mother of three sons and in later years an attentive grandmother to her six grandchildren.
Mrs. Serson was an immensely talented sewer and crafter. She sewed her own clothes and furniture slip covers for others, made stain glass windows, and furniture for dollhouses as well as painting with oils. A lover of the outdoors, she enjoyed walking and swimming. Along with her family, she loved vacationing in the White Mountains. She also took great pleasure in traveling, most of which was done with her sister after her husband’s passing in June of 1976. They traveled to Europe, Hawaii and across the United States. Mrs. Serson was also a member of the Jolly Aces, which was a Seniors Club in Hyde Park and more recent was actively involved in a wonderful day program in Wakefield.
Mrs. Serson had resided with her sister Theresa for a few years and then with her son John and family here in Woburn. When her health started to decline, she moved to to the Pines, where she has remained. In addition to her husband, John H. Serson, Mrs. Serson was preceded in death by her son, David L. Serson and her brothers, George and Jack Eide.
She is lovingly survived by her sons, John H. Serson and his wife Christine of Woburn, Stephen G. Serson of NH, her sisters, Theresa Brennan of West Roxbury, Patricia Ramos of CO, her six grandchildren, Jake, Daniel, Emily, Sarah, Thomas, and Stephanie Serson, and one great-grandson, David Serson. Also survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia Serson of Berwick, ME.
