Catherine T. (O’Connor) Babcock – in Malden, January 11th. Beloved wife of the late John J. “Jack” Babcock. Devoted mother of Brian J.Babcock and his wife Ellen of N. Reading and Steven J Babcock of Somerville. Loving grandmother of Kylee, Ryan and Dylan all of North Reading. Dear sister of Eugene O’Connor and his wife Patricia of Haverhill, Joann O’Connor of Woburn and the late Charles and Patricia O’Connor. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, January 14th at 11:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, 100 Washington Street, Woburn at Noon. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Relatives and Friends may call at the Funeral Home, Friday morning from 10:15-11:30 a.m. Donations may be made in Mrs. Babcock’s memory to the Shade Foundation, 875 Hidden River Place, Suite #300, Tampa FL, 33637 or to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, c/o VNA of Middlesex East, 607 North Avenue, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.

OBITUARY:

Catherine T. (O’Connor) Babcock, of Malden, formerly of Woburn, passed away peacefully at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, on Wednesday, January 12th. The beloved wife of the late John J. “Jack” Babcock, she was seventy-four years of age. Born in Cambridge to the late Charles and Anastacia (Butler) O’Connor, Mrs. Babcock was born and raised in Cambridge where she was a graduate of St. Mary of the Annunciation High School, Class of ’55.

Mrs. Babcock was the consummate homemaker who devoted herself to her husband of forty-eight years, Jack, and her two sons, of whom she was most proud. Like so many families of that time, their lifestyle revolved around family and and its wonderful traditions. They gathered together for Sunday dinners and enjoyed Old orchard Beach during the summer months. After her sons were grown, she remained very close with them and spoke with them daily. She also kept in constant contact with her sister Joann, whom she talk to on the phone two or three times a day.

In later years, Mrs. Babcock was blessed with three grandchildren. “Grammie”, as she was affectionately called, absolutely adored each of them and made every holiday and birthday individually special. At Easter, she would organize an egg hunt assuring each grandchild received that perfect treat. She played games and cards with them and also attended their school and sporting events.

A devout Irish Catholic, Mrs. Babcock was very religious throughout her life.

Mrs. Babcock was predeceased by her husband John J. Babcock, her siblings, Charles O’Connor and Patricia O’Connor.

She is lovingly survived by her sons, Brian J.Babcock and his wife Ellen of N. Reading and Steven J. Babcock of Somerville, her brother, Eugene O’Connor and his wife Patricia of Haverhill, Joann O’Connor of Woburn and her grandchildren, Kylee, Ryan and Dylan all of North Reading.

A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, January 14th at 12 noon, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, 100 Washington Street, Woburn at 12:30. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
