KATHLEEN R. “KATHY” (MESCALL) LUCIA – age 48, in Woburn, formerly of Cambridge, October 2nd. Beloved wife of James E. Lucia. Loving daughter of Bridget (Guinan) Mescall of Cambridge and the late Patrick Mescall. Devoted sister of Mary Hannon of Norwood, Patrick Mescall and his wife Tricia of Chelmsford, Raymond Mescall of NH, Irene Mescall of Pembroke, Sheila Finegan and her husband Michael of Westford, Thomas Mescall of Houston, TX, Suzanne Mescall of Norwood, and Michael Mescall and his wife Keri of Dumont, NJ. Dear sister-in-law of Ernest Lucia, Jr., Elizabeth Alderson, and Catherine Torres. Also survived by 17 nieces and nephews and a grandnephew. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, October 6th at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Calling hours Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to the Woburn Council of Social Concern, c/o Food Pantry, 2 Merrimac Street, Woburn, MA 01801.

OBITUARY:

Kathleen R. “Kathy” Lucia of Woburn passed away at Winchester Hospital Saturday evening, October 2nd, following a brief illness. The beloved wife of James E. Lucia, she was forty-eight years of age.

Born and raised in Cambridge, Kathy was the daughter of Bridget (Guinan) Mescall of Cambridge and the late Patrick Mescall. She was a 1980 graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin. Following her graduation, she lived in Cambridge and Everett, working as a secretary for various firms.

She and her husband Jim, who married eight years ago, were devoted to one another. They enjoyed going out to dinner and traveling together, especially to their favorite destination, Aruba. They often took overnight trips to Mohegan Sun, where they took in the shows, and to York Beach, Maine. Kathy loved animals, especially her beloved cat, “Tasha,” and caring for her flower gardens.

Preceding her in death, along with her father, Patrick Mescall, were her parents-in-law, Ernest and Evelyn (Dixon) Lucia.

Surviving, in addition to her husband Jim and her mother, Bridget Mescall, are eight siblings: Mary Hannon of Norwood, Patrick Mescall and his wife Tricia of Chelmsford, Raymond Mescall of New Hampshire, Irene Mescall of Pembroke, Sheila Finegan and her husband Michael of Westford, Thomas Mescall of Houston, TX, Suzanne Mescall of Norwood, and Michael Mescall and his wife Keri of Dumont, New Jersey. She was also the dear sister-in-law of Ernest Lucia, Jr., Elizabeth Alderson, and Catherine Torres. Also surviving are 17 nieces and nephews and a grandnephew.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, October 6th at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m.

Donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to the Woburn Council of Social Concern, c/o Food Pantry, 2 Merrimac Street, Woburn, MA 01801.
