OBITUARY:

Kevin Charles Roche passed peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital on March 1, 2010 after a brave battle with cancer at the age of 53. He was surrounded by his loving family, friends and devoted medical team. Kevin was the loving husband of Elisa (Doherty) Roche and the proud and devoted father of Elizabeth, Timothy, and Colin Roche.

Kevin was born in Woburn, son of the late Thomas and Constance (Cahalin) Roche. He was educated in the Woburn School System, graduating with the Class 1974. During high school he was active in football, hockey, and track. He furthered his studies at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After college, Kevin worked in the high technology industry for several years at both Marshall Industries and Reptron. He later returned to his family business, Roche Bros. Barrel & Drum, in Lowell.

Kevin lived in Marblehead for several years where he made wonderful lifelong friends, with whom he shared many great memories. He loved the ocean and sailing. He was a sports enthusiast and followed many local teams. He also enjoyed golf and skiing. Kevin was a 20 year member of the Winchester Lodge of Elks #1445.

Following their marriage sixteen years ago, Kevin returned to Woburn where he and Elisa settled to raise their family. His greatest joy was his children, Elizabeth “E”, Tim and Colin. As a family they enjoyed many memorable summers at Popham Beach in Maine and Buzzard’s Bay on the Cape. His children’s biggest cheerleader, he thrived on watching them grow and being an involved Dad with in all their sporting and social events. In return, E, Tim and Colin were blessed with many life lessons, laughs, and memories from their Dad to sustain them for many years.

Kevin will be remembered for his strength, kindness and sense of humor. He always carried a smile despite the health challenges he faced in recent years. He forever had a great story to tell and was blessed with wonderful family and friends. Most of all, Kevin was a true gentleman who simply loved to be at home with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Constance (Cahalin) Roche.

Surviving along with his beloved wife, Elisa, are three children, “E,” Timothy and Colin. He was also the loving brother to Thomas Roche and his wife Natalie of Winchester, Michael Roche of Littleton, Julianne Williams and her husband Cameron of Rockport, and Amy Melanson and her husband Michael of Reading. He is also fondly survived by many dear nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, March 5th at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Please know how closely we have held ALL of you in our thoughts and prayers during these last few difficult days and weeks. We have such fond memories of our many get-togethers when our children were small, and more recently have enjoyed seeing you at the annual Murphy reunion each year. Kevin was such a pleasure to talk to, and the love and pride that he had in his family was so evident during these times. May the love, support, and cherished memories you all share sustain you during this time – and make the road ahead a bit brighter.
