Devoted mother of Barbara Torrice and her husband Joseph “Jay” of Woburn, Andrea Harmon and her husband Kenneth Jr. of New Ipswich, NH, and the late Theodore M. “Ted” Rodes. Dear sister of Ruth Murphy of Winchester and the late Irene Murphy. Loving grandmother of Josh Marchetti, Adam Harmon, and Keith Rodes. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, October 30th at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Calling hours Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

OBITUARY:

Ellen C. Rodes, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully at Winchester Hospital Tuesday morning, October 27th, at the age of eighty. She was the beloved wife of the late George T. Rodes, who died in 1984.

Born in Medford, daughter of the late William P. and Beatrice (Letour) Murphy, she was raised in Medford and Arlington and graduated from Medford High School. She married her husband George in 1959 and they took up residence in North Woburn, where they remained and raised their family.

For over twenty-five years she was employed as a secretary at Audiovox, a communications firm formerly located in Woburn. She retired ten years ago and led a quiet life, enjoying the time spent with her family.

Preceding her in death, along with her husband George, were her son Theodore “Ted” Rodes, who died three year ago, and her sister, Irene Murphy.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Torrice and her husband Joseph “Jay” of Woburn and Andrea Harmon and her husband Kenneth Jr. of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, her sister, Ruth Murphy of Winchester, and three grandchildren, Josh Marchetti, Adam Harmon, and Keith Rodes.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, October 30th at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
