Polly Ottariano, a former longtime Woburn resident, passed away on Tuesday, April 14th, at her daughter’s home in Oakland, Maine, with family at her side.
Born in Lowell, Polly was the beloved daughter of the late Nicholas and Aphrodite (Tsanopoulos) Petroules. She was raised and educated there ,graduating from Lowell High School in 1939. After high school she met the love of her life Valentino Ottariano. In 1945 they married and shared the next fifty two years together. During those fifty two years they were blessed with their daughter Valerie, to whom they both devoted themselves to. Mrs. Ottariano and her family resided in Woburn for the next thirty five years, during which time she worked at Sylvania in Woburn for many years, and later the Joyce Junior High School cafeteria. Upon retiring in 1980 she and her beloved husband moved to Florida where they lived for the next several years, enjoying the warmth ,sunshine and most importantly each other. They later decided to move back to Woburn where they would be a little closer to family. After moving back to Woburn, a short time later Mr. Ottariano passed away. In 1998 Mrs. Ottariano joined her daughter and family in Oakland, Maine, where she spent her remaining years.Preceding her in death, along with her husband Valentino, were three brothers: Jim,, Mike, and Peter Petroules, and sister, Georgia Mitides.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Valerie Glover and her husband David of Oakland, Maine, her grandchildren, David L. Glover Jr., of Bellevue, Washington, Michelle and John Glover, both of Oakland, Maine, and one great-grandson, Jason Austin. Mrs. Ottariano is also survived by her dear sisters, Ann Mercier, Arlene Argouyan and her husband Minos, Dorothy Oulette, and brother, Thomas Petroules, all of Lowell. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, April 22nd at 9;15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
