OBITUARY:

Louise J. Minghella, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away early Thanksgiving morning, surrounded by her family, at the Wilmington Health Care Center in Wilmington. She was the loving and devoted wife of Dominic M. “Mickey” Minghella for more than fifty-seven years.

Born in Woburn eighty years ago, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Josephine (Meluso) Nett. She attended St. Charles School and Woburn High School, graduating with honors in 1946 from Woburn High. For many years Louise worked as a bookkeeper for the business owned by her sons, P&M Locksmith in Woburn. In earlier years she was employed at Woburn National Bank and Gorin’s Department Store.

Louise’s husband, children, and grandchildren were the center of Louise’s life. She and her husband Dominic were devoted to one another and rarely spent time apart. She loved to cook for family gatherings and particularly enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren. She taught religion out of her home for St. Barbara’s Parish for many years and was famous for her whoopie pies, which were always a treat for her religion students as well as her family.

Preceding her in death were three brothers: John, Dominic, and Joseph Nett, and a sister, Ann Surette.

Along with her husband Dominic M. “Mickey” Minghella, she is survived by five children: Michael A. Minghella and his wife Mary of Burlington, Philip V. Minghella and his wife Sandy of Woburn, Josephine M. Brown of Winchester, Mary Lou Minghella-Hadley and her husband Peter Hadley of Salem, New Hampshire, and Dominic C. Minghella and his fiancée, Wendy Crapo of West Yarmouth. She was also the sister of Nancy Pothier of Center Barnstead, New Hampshire, Chris Tilton of Harwich, and Rose Forester of Woburn and loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, December 1st at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.

Donations may be made in Mrs. Minghella’s memory to Camp Sunshine, 35 Acadia Road, Casco, Maine 04015.
