LOUIS APRILE – in Woburn, October 10th. Beloved husband of M. Theresa (Gannon) Aprile. Devoted father of Nancy Amara and her husband Philip of Woburn, Glenn Aprile and his wife Helene of Londonderry, NH, Edward Aprile of Woburn, and the late Patricia Aprile. Dear brother of Gaetano “Gus” Aprile and his wife Louise of Medford, Armando “Arnie” Aprile and his wife Betty of Wilmington, Susan Rita of Wilmington, Tina Amabello of Winchester, and the late Theresa Trapani. Loving grandfather of Alicia Aprile, Sebastiano “Yano,” Philip and Alessandra Amara, Amanda and Eddie Aprile, Katelyn Aprile and Ashley DeVito. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, October 15th at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn, at 10. Calling hours Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Lou’s memory to the Retired Men’s Club of Arlington Scholarship Fund, PO Box 195, Arlington, MA 02476.

OBITUARY:

Louis Aprile, 77, a longtime resident of Woburn’s West Side, passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington on Friday, October 10th, following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of M. Theresa (Gannon) Aprile for nearly fifty-seven years.

Born and raised in Somerville, he was a great baseball player as a young man. He began working for Deran’s Confectionary in Cambridge, which later became Borden’s Confectionary, when he was fifteen. He remained there for more than fifty years, retiring as a plant supervisor in the early 1990’s. He took up residence with his family on Woburn’s West Side in the early 1960’s.

Lou most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, to whom he was their beloved “Papa Lou,” attending sporting events and other activities in which they were involved. He was a longtime member of the Arlington Retired Men’s Club and enjoyed bowling in the group’s bowling leagues.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Aprile, and a sister, Theresa Trapani.

Surviving along with his wife Theresa are a daughter, Nancy Amara and her husband Philip of Woburn, two sons, Glenn Aprile and his wife Helene of Londonderry, New Hampshire, and Edward Aprile of Woburn, two brothers, Gaetano “Gus” Aprile and his wife Louise of Medford and Armando “Arnie” Aprile and his wife Betty of Wilmington, and two sisters, Susan Rita of Wilmington and Tina Amabello of Winchester. He was also the loving grandfather of Alicia Aprile, Sebastiano “Yano,” Philip and Alessandra Amara, Amanda and Eddie Aprile, Katelyn Aprile and Ashley DeVito.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, October 15th at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Lou’s memory to the Retired Men’s Club of Arlington Scholarship Fund, PO Box 195, Arlington, MA 02476.
