OBITUARY:

Mary E. Quinn, a longtime resident of Westford and former resident of Woburn, passed away early Saturday morning, September 27th, at the age of ninety-three. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman H. Quinn, who died in 1976.

Born in Watertown, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Meehan) O’Shea. She graduated from Brighton High School with the Class of 1933 and moved with her family to Woburn in the late 30’s. She and her husband Norman married in 1948. After working for Lever Brothers for a time, she went to work alongside her husband in his oil business, Woburn Oil Company. For many years the family summered in Westford in a home built by her father on Nabnasset Lake. Foliage trips to Burlington, Vermont were a special treat when her children were young. Mary was a gentle soul who was very happy, loving and giving. Always the first to pitch in to help her family and friends, she had a cheerful demeanor and never complained.

Along with her husband Norman, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and John O’Shea, two sisters, Dorothy O’Shea and Margaret Callahan, and her beloved grandson, John P. Pollard.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia A. Pollard and her husband George, and Maureen E. Quinn, all of Westford, three grandchildren, Kevin Pollard and his wife Robbi, Shannon and Daniel Pollard, and two great-grandchildren, Keegan and Taylore Pollard.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn, on Tuesday, September 30th at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph’s Church, 100 Washington St., Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.

  1. Janet & Jackie Beauchamp, Dear Sis and Maureen I can’t tell you how sorry we are for your loss. She was a wonderful Aunt to me and even better especially to Mark he was her second grandmother. She had a special way about her and so gentle. Even in time of crisis she always remaind the same gentle and caring. Even when she hurt herself like falling she never complained. She with Uncle Norman he has waited a long time for her. He probably wants to know if there are any messages for Woburn Oil. Love to all. Janet and Jackie
