OBITUARY:

Anna (Markevich) Roketenetz, a longtime resident of North Woburn who had made her home in Reading in recent years, passed away on Thursday, August 28th, at Winchester Hospital following an illness of several months. She was the wife of the late Alexander Roketenetz, who died in 1995.

Born in Chelsea eighty-six years ago, she was raised and educated in Chelsea. Following their marriage, she and her husband took up residence in North Woburn where they raised their family. Since 1980 they had made their home in Reading.

Anna loved being around her family, and particularly delighted in time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in recent years. Her favorite thing was go out to eat, and wherever she went Anna had a special waitress which determined where she would sit. She enjoyed crocheting and made numerous afghans over the years for friends and relatives alike. Her main concern was her family, and she spoke to her sons and daughters-in-law on a daily basis, keeping abreast of their activities. She was a longtime parishioner of the Russian Orthodox Church in Chelsea.

Along with her husband Alexander, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael G. Roketenetz.

Surviving are two sons, Richard A. Roketenetz and his wife Jeannie of Reading and Andrew P. Roketenetz and his wife Joan of Wilmington. She was also the dear sister of Jenna Markevich of Chelsea, loving grandmother of Andrew Roketenetz and his companion Nancy Beals, Lisa Grace and her husband John, Cheryl Roketenetz and her husband John Perweiler, and Michael R. Roketenetz, Jr. and his fiancee, Lora Finney, and great-grandmother of Madison, Emily and Dylan. Also surviving is her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Roketenetz of Burlington.
