OBITUARY:

Brenda E. Brady, 44, a well-known resident of Woburn’s South End, died suddenly on Tuesday, August 19th, at Winchester Hospital as a result of complications from colon surgery. She was the beloved wife of Robert F. “Bob” Brady.

Brenda was born in Winchester, daughter of the late John F. and Ruth E. (Craven) Malonson. She was raised at 3 Buckman Court in Woburn, where she spent most of her life, and graduated from Woburn High School with the Class of 1982. She worked as a school bus driver for North Suburban Transportation for many years. She later worked for Checker Cab and more recently was employed by North Reading Transportation Company, driving a school bus for the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School in Wakefield. Earlier she was a familiar figure at the ’99’ Restaurant at the Four Corners in Woburn, where she waitressed for many years, and at Lucci’s Market in Wilmington, where she worked at the deli.

Brenda was a friend to all and was known for her backyard gatherings where she loved to cook for everyone. Her generosity even extended to the neighborhood stray cats, which were always well fed. Halloween was a “national event” at Brenda’s home, as she never missed a Lions Club Halloween parade and entertained friends and neighbors with plenty of food and drink to celebrate the event.

She loved spending time with her family, especially on trips to Sebago Lake in Maine and the beaches in Gloucester, where they frequented all the local fairs and amusement parks every summer. Brenda was a longtime member of the South End Italian Club.

Surviving along with her husband Bob are five children: Robert F. Brady III, Michael T. Brady, Sarah (Brady) Virla and her husband Marcello, Laura Megan Brady, and Amanda R. Brady, all of Woburn, a brother, Philip Malonson and his wife Doreen of Burlington, and two sisters, Marcia Hunt and her husband Richard of Stoneham, and Sharon Brogna and her husband Paul of Phoenix, Arizona. She was also the cherished grandmother of Cassidy, Corey, and Chelsey.

Also surviving are many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, and was the dear sister-in-law of Ellen Brown of Arlington, Paula Sevigny of Dracut, Patricia Weeks and Timothy Brady, both of Woburn, Karen Grimes of Houston, Texas, and Jacquelyn Brady-Leone of Lowell.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, August 23rd at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. An interment service will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Brenda’s memory to the Brady Children’s Scholarship Fund, Winchester Savings Bank, 661 Main Street, Winchester, MA 01890, Attn: Nancy Pizzo.

  1. Its been three years since i last talked with you. THree long years of hardship and growing up. I Feel your presence everytime the wind blows or i feel the salty ocean spray. I look back on the choices i have made and realized alot of those decisions had to do with what you would think of me If you were still here. The one thing im constantly searching for is the love that your husband had for you and the passion you too shared with countless words and thoughtful memories. I hope that one day ill find my soul mate. Everytime he tell me a story about how you would just “watch storms” Tears well up in my eyes and i feel hope that ill be blessed with the same kind of luck you had for my own. i was thinking that it was such a shame having to bring my son into the world with out you standing right next to me. But i know you”ll be there for me. I love you. I miss you.

  2. i miss you so much. i wish that the wiked were taken and the good was left in the world my heart goes out to your family and all that cherish you. it breaks my heart every single day to be with out you. every morning i wake up i look through my phone and i never see your number,. my eye well up and i fight them as hard as i can.you wouldnt want me crying over you when you were alive so why would i start now. Mother is god in the eyes of a child. i always pray to you. every night before i lay my lonely head to rest i pray to you. I hope one day we will meet again in a beautiful place. I know your watching me with pride from above. i feel it. I just miss you so much. i still need you.

I was absolutely devestated to hear about Bren. She has been a friend of our family forever, and most recently a very good friend to me. Bob, if you or the kids need anything at all, give me a call anytime. Im sure my mother was waiting for her with open arms and probably a cold beer. RIP Bren, we love you and you will always be remembered as the awesome person you are.

Hang in there Bob, be strong for the kids, Brenda was a good person, and now in a better place. I’m only a phone call away if you ever need anything, bobby and michael you know that.

  34. Brenda was and always will be my second mother. Whenever I needed her she was always there on my side no matter what. The hole in my heart that is left from this tragedy will never be filled for the rest of my life. I loved her very dearly and she will be greatly missed, by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She welcomed me into her home without a second thought, and now God welcomes her home. He must have His reasons, but ones I am sure I won’t understand until the day we meet again. I love you Brenda, now and for always.
    Your niece, Wissy.
