OBITUARY:

Catherine J. “Kay” Reil, a lifelong resident of Woburn’s South End, passed away Sunday, May 25th, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington following a brief illness. She was eighty-five years of age.

Born in Woburn, daughter of the late Constantino and Josephine (Memlo) DeVito, she attended Woburn schools and graduated from Woburn High School with the Class of 1941. She worked for an electronics firm in Woburn for a number of years, and retired at the age of sixty-five from Bausch and Lomb, which was then located in Woburn.

Kay, as she was known to friends and family, loved cooking for friends and family, and was always ready for drop-in guests. Crocheting was a pastime she enjoyed for many years. Kay designed many beautiful handmade blankets for her favorite charity, With Love From Jesus, an organization serving needy families in North Carolina, with which she became involved when visiting her daughter Joanne. Family was most important to her, and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Cechille “Ski” DeVito and Louis DeVito, two sisters, Eleanor Romei and Antoinette Manning, and her granddaughter, Alexis Almeida.

Surviving are two daughters, Joanne C. Foster and her husband Joe of Waxhaw, North Carolina, and Kathleen A. Hood of Amesbury, and her dear sister, Marguerite DeVito of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Deborah and Tiffany Foster, Gayle Robinette, and Nicholas and Matthew Hood, and great-grandmother of Emma and Elijah Robinette.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Thursday, May 29th, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10:15 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Kay’s memory to the With Love from Jesus Ministries, PO Box 612, Indian Trail, NC 28079.
