OBITUARY:

Margaret A. (Murphy) Lynch,a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away Wednesday, March 19th, at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester. The beloved wife of John H. Lynch, she was eighty-one years of age.

Born in Billerica, Margaret was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Collins) Murphy. A graduate of Medford High School, she continued her education at Fisher Jr. College where she studied stenography. After graduating, Margaret secured a position with Liberty Insurance of Boston. She was extremely dedicated to her position, which she maintained for a number of years.

Margaret was married in 1952 to her beloved husband John, to whom she was devoted for over fifty-five years. They resided in Medford before moving to the West side of Woburn in 1955 where they raised five children. While residing in Medford, Margaret and John were longtime parishioners of St. Raphael’s Church. After moving to Woburn they joined St. Barbara’s Parish, which was just being built.

A quiet, unassuming woman, Margaret’s family always came first. Together they enjoyed traveling, cookouts and pool parties with their friends in the backyard and holidays, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving, which meant so much to Margaret. In later years, Margaret and John were blessed with six grandchildren, which she naturally doted upon. She was also very gifted at knitting and crocheting and produced many beautiful pieces for her children and grandchildren.

After retiring, she and John traveled extensively throughout the United States. She was a wonderful traveler and an equally wonderful companion.

Margaret was predeceased by her brother, Edward Murphy.
