OBITUARY:

Gilda (DeTora) Mansour, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away quietly on Monday morning at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen with her family by her bedside. The beloved wife of Thomas J. Mansour, she was eighty-two years of age. Born in N. Andover, Gilda, one of thirteen children, was the daughter of the late John and Angelina (Fargnoli) DeTora. Raised in and educated in N. Andover, she was a graduate of Johnson High School. She met her husband Tom through mutual friends and in the summer of 1956 they were married and made their home in Woburn. Gilda devoted the next fifty-two years of her life to her husband and their three sons. The boys attended St. Charles Elementary School where Gilda volunteered her time and energy to assist the school staff in any way needed . The boys went on to attend Austin Preparatory School in Reading, where she worked in the kitchen during the eighties until her retirement ten years later and attended all of her sons sporting events throughout the school year. The Mansour family enjoyed many trips together and every April they vacationed to a different destination.

Throughout her life, Gilda was a caring and overly generous woman. A talented cook, she prepared meals for family and friends who gathered together and was always available to anyone in need. In later years, Gilda and Tom cherished time spent together, particularly time with their grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. A very religious woman, Gilda was an active member in the Catholic Woman’s Club of St. Charles Parish Church and the Friends of Austin Preparatory School.

Gilda was predeceased by her many brothers and sisters.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Thomas J. Mansour of Woburn, her sons, Thomas J. Mansour of Woburn.
