OBITUARY:

Robert E. Jensen, a resident of Woburn’s West Side, passed away in Wakefield early Friday, October 5th after a long illness. The husband of Carolyn C. (Sullivan) for over forty-seven years, he was seventy-nine years of age.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Hoken and Anna (Elvin) Jensen. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the US Army.

Following his honorable discharge from the service, he lived in Wilmington and then Malden. When he married his wife Carolyn in 1960, they took up residence on Woburn’s West Side.

He worked as a truck driver, working in the local area, throughout his career, for Gormley Motors in Medford and later Alexander Transport in Wakefield. He retired from AMA in Billerica.

Mr. Jensen immensely enjoyed being with his family, and especially enjoyed Sunday afternoons with his children and grandchildren, a longtime family tradition. He also spent a great deal of time working in his yard and taking his family to the beach. In earlier years he was somewhat of a car enthusiast.

Surviving along with his wife Carolyn are eight children: Elizabeth “Betty” Domings of Brockton and her late husband Carl, Janice Shannon and her husband Cal of Woburn, Robert E. Jensen, John E. Jensen of Wilmington, Barbara Saunders and her husband Chuck of Tewksbury, Scott Jensen and his wife Regina of Dorchester, Chris Jensen and his wife Shelli of Chelmsford, and Lisa Norris and her husband Randy of Fitchburg.

He was also the dear brother of Anna Galvin of Tewksbury, Carl Jensen of Wilmington, Sandra Jensen, and Norma Jensen of Waltham, and is further survived by twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, October 10th at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140.
