OBITUARY:

Joseph M. Keough, 85, a longtime Woburn resident, passed away at Winchester Hospital Friday morning, October 5th, following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Catherine E. (Redmond) Keough for over fifty years.

Born and raised in Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Thomas and Josephine (Welch) Keough. He was educated in Canada and worked there as a fisherman before taking up residence in Woburn forty-two years ago. For many years he worked for M.I.T. in its maintenance department.

A true handyman, he enjoyed working around his house and presiding over family barbecues. He loved taking long walks, particularly around Horn Pond, enjoyed going to restaurants with his wife Catherine, and cherished the time spent with his family. He was devoted to his grandson Stephan and often took day trips with him to New Hampshire and Maine.

Mr. Keough was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters in Canada.

Surviving along with his wife Catherine are two daughters, Joanne Martel and her husband James of Wellesley and Susan Keough of Woburn, a son, Harold “Joe” Keough of Woburn, and his grandson, Stephan Martel of Wellesley.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, October 9th at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
