PAUL E. GARVEY – age 52, of Woburn, suddenly, September 19th. Beloved husband of Sherri C. (Rose) Garvey. Devoted father of Sean P. and Ashley A. Garvey. Dear brother of Mary Jane Johnstone of NY, John F. Garvey III, William R. Garvey, and Shirley J. Proctor, all of Woburn, Lorraine M. Altavesta of Hampton, NH, Victoria Veligor of Reading, Michael J. Garvey of Stoneham, and the late Patricia Garvey. Dear brother-in-law of Debra J. Rose of Wakefield, Eric Davis of Maine, and Stacey M. LeBlanc of Lowell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, September 24th at 8:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made in Paul’s memory to the Paul E. Garvey Memorial Educational Fund, c/o Citizen’s Bank, 355 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801, to benefit his children.

OBITUARY:

Paul E. Garvey, 52, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away suddenly at Norwood Hospital Wednesday morning after having been stricken while at work. He was the beloved husband of Sherri C. (Rose) Garvey for over seventeen years.

Paul was born in Woburn, son of the late John F. and Evelyn M. (St. Hilaire) Garvey. He attended Woburn schools and graduated from Woburn High School with the class of 1972.

For the past twenty years he had been employed as a shipper/receiver for Emerson and Cummings, a chemical company located in Canton.

A homebody, Paul was a loving father and devoted husband who loved spending time with his family. An avid sports fan, he particularly loved taking his children to baseball games. He also enjoyed going to Foxwoods and visiting family at Hampton Beach.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Garvey.

Along with his wife Sherri, he leaves two children, Sean P. and Ashley A. Garvey, seven brothers and sisters: Mary Jane Johnstone of NY, John F. Garvey III, William R. Garvey, and Shirley J. Proctor, all of Woburn, Lorraine M. Altavesta of Hampton, NH, Victoria Veligor of Reading, and Michael J. Garvey of Stoneham. He was also the dear brother-in-law of Debra J. Rose of Wakefield, Eric Davis of Maine, and Stacey M. LeBlanc of Lowell, and is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, September 24th at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home are on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.

    When the sign-up list went up for a family day at Canobie Lake Park, Paul’s name was the first on this list. I thought:
    this man loves his family.
