CHRISTINE M. “Chris” (FERRIS) GEORGE – in Stoneham, formerly of Woburn, September 15th. Beloved wife of the late Robert P. George. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, September 18th at 9:45 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10:30. OBITUARY:

Christine M. “Chris” George of Stoneham, a former Woburn resident, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, September 15th, at her daughter’s home in Stoneham. The beloved wife of the late Robert P. George, who died in 1973, she was eighty years of age.

Born in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ethel (Bilodeau) Ferris. She grew up in Malden and was a 1944 graduate of Malden High School.

From 1961 until 1988, she lived with her family in Woburn. She moved to Cotuit at the Cape, where she remained for several years before taking up residence in Stoneham nine years ago.

Chris led an active life until recent years. She loved to swim at the YMCA and in her younger years played tennis regularly. While she was living at the Cape, she belonged to a walking club, and also loved to read, sew, knit. and spend time with her family.

Along with her husband Robert, she was also predeceased by her brother, Edward Ferris, and her sister, Eileen D’Agostino.

Surviving are three daughters: Suzanne Coy and her husband Stephen of Stoneham, Joanne Donovan and her husband Richard of Hopkinton, and Patricia Cirillo and her husband Richard of Shaker Heights, Ohio.

She was also the loving grandmother of Meredith Jodoin and Stephen Coy, Kelly-Anne Mazur and Meghan and Michael Donovan, and Robert, Emma and Dominic Cirillo; and great-grandmother of Alexander and Madison Jodoin.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, September 18th at 9:45 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10:30. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Chris’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
