ROBERT D. SCELZO – in Burlington, August 8th. Beloved father of Donald of Westport, Kim Stanton and her dear friend Robert Corkery of SC, Donna Bicheler and her fiance William Zink of Woburn, Karen Scelzo of Dracut, Robert Scelzo, Jr. and his wife Kristie of ME, Mark Scelzo and his dear friend Kim Taylor of Woburn, and Kathy Scelzo of ME. Dear brother of Joseph and James, both of Burlington. Dear grandfather of James, Joseph and Melissa Stanton, Nicole and Elyce Bicheler, Charee, Cameron and Riley Scelzo, and Brady Scelzo, and great-grandfather of James and Ryan Stanton. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, August 13th, from 8 to 8:45 a.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn. Interment of his ashes will be private.

OBITUARY:

Robert D. Scelzo, a retired Burlington police officer, passed away at Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Wednesday, August 8th. He was sixty-eight years of age.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Ralph and Helen (Dooley) Scelzo. He was raised in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School.

Mr. Scelzo lived in Woburn for several years before returning to Burlington. He joined the Burlington Police Department in the early 1980’s, and retired a number of years ago.

Surviving are seven children: Donald of Westport, Kim Stanton and her dear friend Robert Corkery of South Carolina, Donna Bicheler and her fiance William Zink of Woburn, Karen Scelzo of Dracut, Robert Scelzo, Jr. and his wife Kristie of Maine, Mark Scelzo and his dear friend Kim Taylor of Woburn, and Kathy Scelzo of Maine.

He was also the dear brother of Joseph and James, both of Burlington, the loving grandfather of James, Joseph and Melissa Stanton, Nicole and Elyce Bicheler, Charee, Cameron and Riley Scelzo, and Brady Scelzo, and great-grandfather of James and Ryan Stanton.
