MARY E. (STRINGER) HOLLAND- in Tewksbury, June 28th, beloved wife of Richard F. Holland Sr. Devoted mother of Richard F. “Dutchie” Holland and his wife Patsy of Woburn, Tim P. Holland and his wife Louise of Essex, Ellen R. Kee and her husband Gene of Tewksbury, Andrew G. Holland of Salem and the late Christopher Holland. Dear sister of the late Theresa Ward. Loving grandmother of nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, July 2nd at 8:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 9. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.

OBITUARY:

Mary E. (Stringer) Holland of Tewksbury, passed away Thursday, June 28th at the Aberjona Nursing Center. The beloved wife of Richard F. Holland Sr., she was eighty-four years of age. Born in Wakefield, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Ellen (Phalen) Stringer. She grew up in Wakefield and was a graduate of Cheverus High School in Malden.

In 1945, Mary married her beloved husband Richard “Dick” Holland Sr.,a naval pilot during WWII, to whom she was devoted for sixty-two years. In 1956, they made their home in Magnolia where they raised their five children until the late 60’s when they moved to Rowley. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and her home which she always kept meticulously clean. In her leisure she was enjoyed knitting and quilting.

In 1975, Mr. Holland purchased Rowley Hardware where Mary worked alongside her husband until his retirement in 1988. For a number of years, up until 2003, Mary and her husband lived for much of the year in Sebastian, Florida.

In later years, she and her husband were blessed with nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren, with a fifth great grandchild on the way.

Mary was predeceased by her son, Christopher, who passed away in June of 1972 and her sister Theresa Ward.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Richard F. Holland Sr., her children, Richard F. “Dutchie” Holland and his wife Patsy of Woburn, Tim P. Holland and his wife Louise of Essex, Ellen R. Kee and her husband Gene of Tewksbury, Andrew G. Holland of Salem, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
