HENRY J. SLAGMOLEN – on May 27th,in Lady Lake Florida, formerly of Woburn, beloved husband of the late Theodora (Deurhof) Slagmolen. Devoted father of Angie Grecco and her husband Bob of Illinios and Dirk Slagmolen and his wife Susan of Woburn. Cherished grandfather of Alyssa Barding and her husband Tom of IL, Robert Grecco Jr. and his wife Emily of TX, Dirk R., Kristen, and Douglas H. Slagmolen, all of Woburn, great grandfather of Lilly, Deuce and Lincoln Barding and Zack and Mia Grecco. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, June 9th at 11:30 a.m. Donations may be made in Mr. Slagmolen’s memory to the Hospice House, The Villages, Lady Lake, FL, 32159 and the Boys and Girls Club of Woburn.

OBITUARY:

Henry J. Slagmolen of Lady Lake, Florida, formerly of Woburn, passed away peacefully at the Hospice House in the Villages, Sunday, May 27th, at the age of eighty-four, following a lengthy illness. Born in Utrecht, Netherlands, he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1956. In 1965, he moved to Woburn where he lived for over thirty years. Working as a engineer for Chomerics Inc., Henry lived in New Jersey, Vermont and England setting up new branches before retiring to The Villages in Lady Lake Florida.

Mr. Slagmolen and his beloved wife of fifty years, Thea, loved to dance and travel. They have been to 49 of the fifty states including a seven day cruise to Alaska. They also made it a point to go back to Europe every few years to visit their many relatives still living there.

While residing in Woburn, Mr. Slagmolen also became involved in the community. He joined the Masons and moved up the ranks becoming the Grand Master of the Mount Horeb Lodge, AF and AM in Woburn. Additionally, he became a SHriner and was a large supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of Woburn.

After retiring to Florida, he began playing golf and loved to play pickle ball and bowl. Mostly, Mr. Slagmolen loved to dance. He would go out at least twice a week dancing. At weddings or functions, Mr. and Mrs. Slagmolen would always be on the dance floor, that was when he was the happiest.

Mr. Slagmolen was preceded in death by his wife to whom he was devoted for fifty years, Theodora (Deurhof) Slagmolen.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Angie Grecco and her husband Robert of Illinios and Dirk Slagmolen and his wife Susan of Woburn, five cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Barding and her husband Tom of IL, Robert Grecco Jr.and his wife Emily, of TX, Dirk R., Kristen and Douglas H. Slagmolen, all of Woburn. Mr. Slagmolen will also be missed by his five great grandchildren, Lilly, Deuce and Lincoln Barding, Zack and Mia Grecco.

    So sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I have very fond memories of him when I was a child. Having recently lost my mother, I can understand how you must feel.

  2. NITA S. LOWERY WORKED WITH DEAR HENRY AT CHOMERICS AND AMP IN BRATTLEBORO FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THE JOKE BETWEEN US WAS THAT I NEVER HIT THE WASTE BASKET WITH WADS OF PAPER AND HE ALWAYS SAID “NITA, YOU’LL NEVER BE A BASKTBALL PLAYER” WE ALWAYS LAUGHED.
