EDNA (SMITH) MURRAY – in Derry, NH, formerly of Woburn, May 24th. Beloved wife of the late William L. Murray. Devoted mother of Carole A. Davis of Billerica and her late husband John A. “Jack,” Linda J. Murray of Londonderry, NH, Michele Murray-Altieri and her husband Jerry of Wakefield, Susan Murray-Mathews of FL, and Denise Murray of CA. Dear sister of George Smith, Nancy DeRosa, Martha Smith, and Kenneth Smith, all of Maine, Conrad F. Smith of Woburn, and the late Lillian Smith and Gen. Robert N. Smith USAF. Dear grandmother of William Morris, Kristin Davis, Joshua Mathews and the late Ronny Morris, Jr. A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, May 30th at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Marion Williams of the North Congregational Church officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

OBITUARY:

Edna C. Murray, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away in Derry, New Hampshire, early Thursday morning, May 24th. She was the wife of the late William L. Murray.

Born in Woburn eighty-seven years ago, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Lottie (Nielsen) Smith. Edna was a graduate of Woburn High School and continued her education at Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned a degree as a licensed practical nurse.

She worked as a private duty nurse for several years before retiring to raise her family. Her spirit of caregiving continued into later years as she volunteered in hospitals and cared for the elderly in their homes. Her priority in life was her family, to whom she was devoted.

Preceding her in death, along with her husband William, were her sister, Lillian Smith, her brother, Gen. Robert N. Smith USAF, her son-in-law John A. “Jack” Davis, and her grandson, Ronny Morris, Jr.

Surviving are five daughters: Carole A. Davis of Billerica, Linda J. Murray of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Michele Murray-Altieri and her husband Jerry of Wakefield, Susan Murray-Mathews of Florida, and Denise Murray of California; three brothers: George Smith and Kenneth Smith, both of Maine, and Conrad F. Smith of Woburn, and two sisters: Nancy DeRosa and Martha Smith, both of Maine. She was also the loving grandmother of William Morris, Kristin Davis, and Joshua Mathews.

A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, May 30th at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Marion Williams of the North Congregational Church officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
