JOSEPH P. FORLIZZI – in Florida, formerly of Medford, Monday, January 29th. Beloved husband of Carolyn (Bufalino) Forlizzi and the late Ann (Barrucci) Forlizzi. Devoted father of Peter D. and his wife Patricia of Medford, Paul D. and his wife Donna of Boxford, Joseph Jr. and his wife Michele of Tewksbury and John P. and his wife Lynn of Methuen. Loving stepfather of Anthony Parinella and his wife Melinda of NY and Russell Parinella of FL. Dear brother of Frank Forlizzi of Stoneham, Nicholas Forlizzi of Saugus, Ann Mantini of Woburn and the late Armando, Daniel, John, James, Eva and Netta. Cherished grandfather of nine grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, February 2nd, at 10:45 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Mr. Forlizzi’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.

OBITUARY:

Joseph P. Forlizzi, a former resident of Arlington who had made his home in Florida for the past twenty years, died on Monday, January 29th in Palm Harbor, Florida at the age pf eighty-nine. He was the husband of Carolyn (Bufalino) Forlizzi of Florida and the late Ann (Barrucci) Forlizzi.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Erminia (Buoncompagno) Forlizzi. He grew up in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School. He served in the US Army in World War II.

Mr. Forlizzi worked as an engineer for Honeywell in Boston, retiring after thirty years.

For many years he traveled to Florida in the winter before taking up residence full-time in Tarpon Springs in 1985.

In Florida he was a member of St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church, and served as President of Azalea Condominiums for over ten years.

He enjoyed music, particularly singing and playing the harmonica, and was an avid reader. His family was most important to him and he loved spending time with them at home.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann (Barrucci), who died in 2000, and his siblings: Armando, Daniel, John, James, Eva and Netta.

Surviving are his wife Carolyn (Bufalino) Forlizzi of Tarpon Springs, Florida, four sons: Peter D. and his wife Patricia of Medford, Paul D. and his wife Donna of Boxford, Joseph Jr. and his wife Michele of Tewksbury and John P. and his wife Lynn of Methuen, and two stepsons: Anthony Parinella and his wife Melinda of New York and Russell Parinella of Florida. He was also the dear brother of Frank Forlizzi of Stoneham, Nicholas Forlizzi of Saugus, and Ann Mantini of Woburn, and cherished grandfather of nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, February 2nd, at 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Mr. Forlizzi’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
