JOHN T. CROWLEY – in Woburn, January 23rd. Beloved husband of Edna M. (Roche) Crowley. Devoted father of Patricia F. MacKinnon and her husband Kenneth of Leesburg, FL, Jeanne A. Sullivan and her husband Daniel of Surry, ME, Paul J. Crowley and his wife Debra of Longwood, FL, Mary E. Crowley of Billerica, and the late Timothy Crowley. Brother of the late Joseph Crowley, Sr. Louise of the Angels, SND, Anne Keating, Alice Kennedy, and Mary Gill. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, January 27th, at 10:45 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 11:30. Calling hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in John’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
OBITUARY:
John T. Crowley, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away in Lexington late Tuesday, January 23rd, following an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of Edna M. (Roche) Crowley for over sixty-three years.
Born in Woburn eighty-eight years ago, he was the son of the late Timothy and Julia (Ruane) Crowley. He graduated from Keith Academy and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College in 1939. A veteran of World War II, he served with the US Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations.
Mr. Crowley worked for New England Telephone Company as an estimating engineer for over forty-one years until his retirement.
He and his wife Edna loved to travel, enjoying many trips to Las Vegas and Hawaii. For many years they wintered in Longwood, Florida. In earlier years Mr. Crowley was a member of the Holy Name Society and the St. Francis Guild.
Preceding him in death were his son Timothy, who died in 1958, a brother, Joseph Crowley, and four sisters, Sr. Louise of the Angels, SND, Anne Keating, Alice Kennedy, and Mary Gill.
Along with his wife Edna, he leaves four children: Patricia F. MacKinnon and her husband Kenneth of Leesburg, Florida, Jeanne A. Sullivan and her husband Daniel of Surry, Maine, Paul J. Crowley and his wife Debra of Longwood, Florida, Mary E. Crowley of Billerica. He was also the beloved grandfather of seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, January 27th, at 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 11:30. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
