VERA M. (FIGUCIA) DeANGELO – in Woburn, November 27th. Beloved wife of the late James A. DeAngelo, Sr. Devoted mother of Paula A. DeAngelo and James A. DeAngelo, Jr., both of Woburn, Susan E. Bouchard & her husband John of Bow, NH, and Steven R. DeAngelo & his wife Rozania of Everett. Dear sister of Sally Cannon and her husband Bill, Loretta and Angelo Figucia, all of Woburn, Viola Iritano of CA, James Figucia of Winchester, Sam Figucia & his wife Ida of Stoneham, and the late Agnes Kiklis, Frank, Jr., Joseph, John, and Susan Figucia. Loving grandmother of Deborah and James DeAngelo III, Jason and Eric Bouchard, and Shannon and Jaclyn DeAngelo. Also survived by 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, December 1st, at 8:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Calling hours Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

OBITUARY:

Vera M. (Figucia) DeAngelo, beloved wife of the late James DeAngelo, passed away quetly at Winchester Hospital on Monday, November 27th, surrounded by her family after an illness of a few days. A lifelong resident of Woburn, she was affectionately known as “Vee” to her family and host of friends and neighbors.

She was born to the late Frank and Marion Figucia on March 25, 1923. She was one of twelve children, and in her early years assisted in the care of her siblings while completing her education in the Woburn school system. Later she was employed for many years at the Marilyn Sandal Corporation in Stoneham, after which she married her beloved husband James in 1943 in St. Charles Borromeo Church in Woburn.

Together they enjoyed sixty-two years of love and devotion, raising their family and enjoying many good family times along the way, supporting their children in every endeavor. Mrs. DeAngelo made many friends throughout her life at the YMCA and at various jobs she held. She was a well-known figure throughout Woburn center where she enjoyed shopping.

She will always be remembered for her openness, warmth, ready smile, and friendliness to her family, friends and neighbors.

Felled by a stroke in December of 2001, Vera spent the past five years being cared for meticulously by her late husband and her devoted children who dendeavored to bring her life the quality it deserved. Throughout this time she maintained her high optimism, deep fath, and was never known to despair of her condition.

Preceding her in death, along with her beloved husband James, were her sisters, Susan Figucia and Agnes Kiklis, and her brothers, Frank, Jr., Joseph and John.

Surviving are her four children, Paula A. DeAngelo and James A. DeAngelo, Jr., both of Woburn, Susan E. Bouchard & her husband John of Bow, NH, and Steven R. DeAngelo & his wife Rozania of Everett, her brothers, James Figucia of Winchester, Sam Figucia and his wife Ida of Stoneham, and Angelo Figucia of Woburn, and sisters, Sally Cannon and her husband Bill and Loretta Figucia, all of Woburn, and Viola Iritano of California. She was also the loving grandmother of Deborah and James DeAngelo III, Jason and Eric Bouchard, and Shannon and Jaclyn DeAngelo, and great-grandmother of six.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, December 1st, at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m.
