OBITUARY:

Catherine E. “Kay” (Fitzmaurice) Kelley, affectionately known as “Dolly” by many of her family and friends, passed away here early Sunday following a long illness, at the age of ninety-two. She was the wife of the late Edward P. Kelley, Jr. who died in 1960.

Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Elizabeth A. (Pickett) Fitzmaurice. She lived in Cambridge and Somerville with her family before they moved to Woburn when she was a youngster, and graduated from St. Charles School.

In addition to raising her family after her husband died at an early age, Kay worked as a caregiver for a family and later worked for over twenty-five years at the Frances Street Nursing Home in Woburn. In her later years she went back to work there as a volunteer.

Kay had a wonderful attitude towards life. She thoroughly enjoyed summers at Hampton Beach and had a great love of animals. Extremely patriotic, she never missed a Veterans or Memorial Day parade when she was able to attend. In her later years she was very active at the Woburn Senior Center where she participated in all the various activities, a favorite being karaoke. Kay loved clowns and participated in the Walk for Hunger dressed as a clown herself.

In addition to her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward P. Kelley III, two brothers, John and William Fitzmaurice, and a sister, Ann Walker, formerly Sr. Marie St. Ann, SND.

Surviving are three daughters, Maryanne “Kelley” Rademacher and her husband Donald of Linden, CA, Claire E. Theobald and her husband Marty of Woburn, and Kathleen M. Hurd and her husband Dale of Norton, a son, William J. Kelley of Lowell, and a sister, Mary Dedrickson of Pompano Beach, FL. She was also the beloved grandmother of Jason, Kevin, Rebecca, Kelli, Alicia, Kristen, and the late Allison, and great-grandmother of Joshua, Jacob, Cole, Cheyanne, Miranda & Madison. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, November 15th at 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 11:30. Interment will follow in Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue, Cambridge.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Kay’s memory to the Woburn Senior Center, 144 School Street, Woburn, MA 01801.
