MARK SCIRE – 46, of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Woburn, unexpectedly, October 3rd. Beloved son of Nancy C. (Conway) Scire of Woburn and the late Samuel G. Scire. Dear brother of Richard S. and his wife Susan, and David J. Scire and his partner Christopher Boe, all of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Susan N. Scire of Woburn. Loving uncle of Samantha, Elizabeth, Penny & Jenny Scire. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn, on Saturday, October 14th at 11 a.m. Interment is private. Donations may be made in Mark’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02110.

OBITUARY:

Mark Scire, 46, a native of Woburn who had made his home in Clearwater, Florida since 1998, passed away unexpectedly at his home there on Tuesday, October 3rd. He was the beloved son of Nancy C. (Conway) Scire of Woburn and the late Samuel G. Scire.

Mark was born and raised in Woburn and was a graduate of Austin Prep School in Reading. As a teenager he held the distinction of becoming an Eagle Scout.

He studied nursing at Middlesex Community College, and worked at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford for over twenty years. He began there as a nursing assistant, and then won a scholarship to earn his degree as a registered nurse, a field which he loved.

At the time of his death he was employed at Suncoast Hospital in Largo, Florida.

An avid traveler, he visited every continent with the exception of Antarctica. He enjoyed antiquing and spending time with his friends in his leisure time. Mark especially loved his dog, a bichon frise named “Q-Tip.”

Preceding him in death was his father, Samuel Scire, who died last year.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Nancy Scire of Woburn, are a sister, Susan N. Scire of Woburn, and two brothers, Richard S. and his wife Susan, and David J. Scire and his partner Christopher Boe, all of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was also the loving uncle of Samantha, Elizabeth, Penny & Jenny Scire.

  2. I remember Mark as a youngster in Saint Barbara’s Parish in Woburn where I spent my Deacon year. He was always a happy kid and fun to be around. My sympathy to his mom and the rest of his family. Although I haven’t seen him in many years, I am not surprised that he found his vocation as an RN. May he enjoy the peace and fulfillment of those who spend their lives serving others. “As often as you did it for one of my least brothers or sisters, you did it for me.”

  3. The days of our youth can never be regained but the legacy you left me will last forever. You taught me to enjoy reading. You taught me to dance. Most importantly you taught me to enjoy life. These things have been passed on to my daughters.
