HANS G. VIEZENS- in Woburn, July 15th, beloved husband of the late Annelore (Hilge) Viezens. Devoted father of Christine Doxzen and her husband Daniel of VA and Michael P. Viezens of Woburn. Dear brother of the late Guenter Viezens. Cherished grandfather of Brianna and Hans Doxzen. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Hans’ memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements by the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn.

OBITUARY:

Hans G. Viezens, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday morning, his daughter and son by his side. The beloved husband of the late Annelore (Hilge) Viezens, he was seventy-seven years of age. Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Hans was the son of the late Richard and Irma (Riegger) Viezens. Raised and educated in Germany, Hans moved to Canada following high school to continue his education at McGill University. While residing in Canada, Hans was introduced to wife, Annelore, by a mutual friend which resulted in their loving marriage which lasted over fifty years. They remained in Canada for twenty years where they raised their two children . During that time, Hans was employed by Johnson and Johnson Company.

In the early 70’s, the Viezens relocated to Woburn where they have resided for thirty-five years.

A consummate family man, Hans so loved being with his family and in later years he was blessed with two grandchildren whom he adored. Hans and his wife traveled on many occasions to Germany to reunite with family members. During the summers the entire family loved to visit Martha’s Vineyard where Hans enjoyed reading novels on the beach. They also enjoyed dining out and Hans considered fine dining a totally enjoyable experience.

During his thirty five years in Woburn, Hans held positions with several companies before retiring in his late sixties as a controller for Fire Control Instrument.

Hans was predeceased by his wife, Annelore (Hilge) Viezens, whom he lovingly care for until her death from Alzheimer’s Disease in January of 2005 and also his brother Guenter Viezens.

He is survived by his children, Christine Doxzen and her husband Daniel of VA and Michael P. Viezens of Woburn, and his grandchildren, Brianna and Hans Doxzen.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Hans’ memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn.
