FRANCIS J. “FRANK” STRAZZERE – in Woburn, at home, Saturday, July 1st, beloved husband of Susan M. (Agostino) Strazzere. Devoted father of David Strazzere of Lynn and Teresa Marchand and her husband John of Woburn. Dear brother of Vincent Strazzere of Billerica, Sarah “Sally??? Gianino of NC, Victoria Cappello of Medford, Ann Aloisio of Peabody, formerly of RI, and the late Adeline Fazio and Nancy Strazzere. Cherished grandfather of Jesse Coiro and Leandra Marchand and great grandfather of Alyssa and Devin. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Thursday, July 6th at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 11 a.m. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Donations may be made in Mr. Strazzere’s memory to Hospice Care Inc., 41 Montvale Avenue, Stoneham, MA 02180.

OBITUARY:

Francis J. “Frank??? Strazzere, a longtime resident and Woburn business owner, passed away Saturday, July 1st at his home with his family by his side. The beloved husband of Susan M. (Agostino) Strazzere, he was seventy-nine years of age. The son of Salvatore and Rose (Gulino) Strazzere, Frank, as he was affectionately known, was raised and educated in Medford graduating from Medford High School in 1946. As a young man he worked for his father who owned Augusta’s Market in South Medford.

In June of 1955, Frank married his beloved wife Susan, to who he was devoted for fifty-one years. They made their home in Woburn where they raised their two children. In January of 1960, Frank opened his own business, the Black Bow Tie Deli, located at the Four Corners in Woburn. Frank, who always wore a smile, greeted thousands of customers during his thirty years in business. He closed the store in 1990 when he retired.

Frank was a consummate family man who enjoyed caring for his family and his home. Together they traveled to Italy, Florida, New York, Washington D.C., Canada and spent summers on Cape Cod in Dennis, where they enjoyed sailing. As a nature lover, he enjoyed working outdoors and was meticulous about his yard and garden, spending many leisurely hours manicuring his lawn. He also loved animals.

A longtime member of St. Barbara’s Parish, Frank helped to raise money for the parish through charity events, lead a prayer group and taught CCD classes. He also wrote articles for the Catholic Corner published in the Woburn Daily Times.

Frank was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 77.

Frank was predeceased by his sisters, Adeline Fazio and Nancy Strazzere.

In addition to his wife, Susan (Agostino) Strazzere, Frank is survived by his children David Strazzere of Lynn and Teresa Marchand and her husband John of Woburn, his siblings, Vincent Strazzere of Billerica, Sarah “Sally??? Gianino of NC, Victoria Cappello of Medford, Ann Aloisio of Peabody, formerly of RI., his grandchildren, Jesse Coiro and Leandra Marchand and his great grandchildren, Alyssa and Devin.
