OBITUARY:

Stephen P. Paladino, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 27th, at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, following an illness of several months. The husband of Nancy A. (Torrisi) Paladino, he was seventy-eight years of age.

Born and raised in Woburn, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Equatore) Paladino. He worked as a welder in earlier years, and more recently worked for Raytheon until his retirement in 1992.

Family was the center of Stephen’s life. He had a great appreciation for life, and was happiest when he was surrounded by his family. He loved to cook, and every week his children and grandchildren would gather at his home in Woburn’s South End for Sunday dinner. He adored his grandchildren and rarely missed a sporting event, whether it be Little League baseball, soccer, or basketball, in which one of them was involved.

Yearly he and his wife Nancy, along with their children and grandchildren, would gather for a vacation in Wells, Maine. Throughout the years they enjoyed many wonderful vacations together, oftentimes with their dear friends, to Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

In addition to his wife Nancy, with whom he celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage earlier this week, he is survived by two sons, Stephen P., Jr. and his wife Anne Marie, and John and his wife Carole, all of Woburn, two daughters, Mary Grace Costa and her husband Danny of Stoneham and Ann M. Paladino of Woburn, and two sisters, Ann Bisso of Woburn and Grace Marini and her husband Mario of Florida.

He was also the devoted grandfather of Kristen Staples and her husband Wayne, Christopher Keane, Brittany and Daniel Costa, and Michael and Alex Paladino. Also surviving is a dear sister-in-law, Eleanora Tammaro of Malden. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, May 1st at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.

Donations may be made in Stephen’s memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701, or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
