KATHRYN L. (MAGUIRE) ADAMS – in Loudon, TN, formerly of Woburn, February 8th. Beloved mother of Claire M. Rodia and her husband Ernest of Loudon, TN, Larraine H. Mather of Phoenix, AZ, and Kevin C. Adams of Jacksonville, FL. Dear sister of Joseph Maguire of Methuen and Thomas Maguire of Woburn. Loving grandmother of Evelyn, Debra, Steven, David, Lawrence, and Joseph. Also survived by four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, February 11th, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11 a.m., prior to the funeral. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Kathryn’s memory to the the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472, the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701, or to the Baptist Health Care Center, 100 Williams Ferry Rd., Lenoir City, TN 37771.

OBITUARY:

Kathryn L. (Maguire) Adams, a former Woburn resident, passed away at Baptist Health Care Center in Lenoir City, Tennessee, on Wednesday, February 8th, following a lengthy illness. She was eighty-four years of age.

Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Kathryn (Curran) Maguire. She attended Woburn schools, graduated from Woburn High School, and completed her Associates Degree at Hartford Community College. Following her marriage she moved to Virginia and then to Bel Air, Maryland, where she remained for over thirty years. During this time she worked for the US Government at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds Test Facility. She began as a secretary and later, after a series of promotions, attained the position of Civilian Personnel Management Specialist. She was able to advance to the highest civilian rating in government service, and was the recipient of numerous awards during her career. For the last two years of her affiliation with government service, she worked in a teaching capacity in the Pentagon. She retired in 1981.

She was devoted to her family and was widely known for her generous nature. She was a voracious reader and especially enjoyed traveling.

More recently, Kathryn resided in Akron, Ohio, with her daughter Claire, later moving to Tennessee, and in the past year received wonderful care by the staff at the Baptist Health Care Center in Lenoir City, Tennessee.

Surviving are two daughters, Claire M. Rodia and her husband Ernest of Loudon, Tennessee and Larraine H. Mather of Phoenix, Arizona, a son, Kevin C. Adams of Jacksonville, Florida, and two brothers, Joseph Maguire of Methuen and Thomas Maguire of Woburn.

She was also the loving grandmother of Evelyn Peel, Debra and Steven Rodia, and David, Lawrence, and Joseph Mather. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren.
