Dion – in Reading, formerly of Woburn, Wednesday , February 8th, Alyssa R., eighteen years of age, beloved daughter of Steven M. Dion of Reading and Denise A. (Oddo) Baker and her husband Rick N. Baker of Wilmington. Loving sister of Derek M., Taylor E. and Michele A. Dion, all of Reading and stepsister of Zachary E., Joshua N. and Samuel C. Baker, all of Woburn. Cherished granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Dion of Burlington and Bernadette Oddo of Woburn. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, February 13th at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 10. Calling hours Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Alyssa’s memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 N. Main St., Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760.

OBITUARY:

Alyssa R. Dion of Reading, formerly of Woburn, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 8th, at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Eighteen years of age, Alyssa, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth, was the beloved daughter of Steven M. Dion and Denise A. (Oddo) Baker. Born in Winchester, Alyssa attended the Reeves Elementary School on the West Side of Woburn, until the fourth grade when her family relocated to Reading. She then attended the Killam Elementary School and the Parker Middle School. Alyssa went on to Reading Memorial High School where she was in her Senior year of studies. Up until last year, she was a member of the Reading Memorial High School Girls Soccer and Lacrosse Teams. Additionally, Alyssa volunteered at the Coolidge Middle School assisting younger students with their homework assignments and other projects. She was also a member of the Miscellanious Club, which Alyssa and a few fellow classmates founded as a means to volunteer for various charitable programs and events such as The Special Olympics Program in the City of Newton.

Alyssa loved music, dancing and ice skating, but most importantly she cherished spending time with her family. She looked forward to their vacation each summer and together they traveled to Disney World in FL. Two years ago the Make A Wish Foundation made it possible for Alyssa and her family to travel to Hawaii which was her lifelong dream.

Alyssa was a fun-loving, courageous young woman who did not let her illness prevent her reaching out to others. She touched many lives and shared her talents, her zest for life and laughter with those she loved and beyond.

Alyssa was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Philip Oddo.

She is survived by her parents, Steven M. Dion of Reading and Denise A. (Oddo) Baker and her husband Rick N. Baker of Wilmington, her brother and sisters, Derek M., Taylor E. and Michele A. Dion, all of Reading and stepbrothers,Zachary E., Joshua N. and Samuel C. Baker, all of Woburn, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dion of Burlington and Bernadette Oddo of Woburn.     We all miss you so much, it will never be the same without you here. Youve left everyone with so many good memories that we will cherish forever. Grammys house will always seem just too quiet without you there.     I want you to know how much I love you. I will never ever forget all the great memories we shared. You were the big sister Kayli never had. You were such a huge part of this family and we will forever miss you. Our lives will never be the same without you.     i am so sorry to hear about the lose of alyssa. i will miss her i remember watching her and sisters at the hockey rink while my brother robbie and derek played hockey together then going out to breakfast. so will be missed bye everyone that loved her.

    she is in a good place watching down on everyone and my dad boo will watch over her.
