Rachel (Leonardis) Perrotta of Woburn, formerly of Somerville, passed away quietly at the Courtyard Nursing Center in Medford on Saturday November 19th. The wife of the late Angelo Perrotta, she was eighty-nine years of age. Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinando and Govianna L. (Rizza) Leonardis. Her family made their home in the North Woburn section of the city, and she was a graduate of Woburn High School. During her early childhood and up until the time of her marriage in 1937 she was a very active participant in St. Anthony parish and their choir. Following her marriage Mrs. Perrotta moved to Somerville where she made her home right up until several months ago.
She was very devoted to her husband and their five children, involving herself in all that they did. As her children grew, married and had their own children, her home was where the holidays would be spent and she would prepare sumptuous meals for all. Dining out, playing Bingo with her friends and crocheting were all activities that Mrs. Perrotta thoroughly enjoyed. Her favorite pastime however was spending time with her children, grandchildren and more recently her great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Angelo P. Perrotta, she was predeceased by her sons, Francis and Ronald Perrotta, her brothers Anthony, Stephen and Edmund Leonardis and her sisters Mary Bavuso, Ann Kelly and Rose Sarno.
She is survived by her children, Matilda Biondo of Somerville, Angelo Perrotta Jr. of N. Billerica and Anthony Perrotta of Weymouth, her sisters, Eleanor Comeiro and Margie Richardson, both of Woburn, fourteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and her mother-in-law, Marilyn Perrotta of Woburn. Donationss may be made in Mrs. Perrottas memory to the Hallmark Health Hospice, 100 Hospital Road, Malden, MA 02148.
