OBITUARY:

Helen Borelli of Woburn passed away at the Kenoza Manor Convalescent Home in Haverhill on Monday, October 24th, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Victor Borelli, who died in 1987.

Born in Budapest, Hungary eighty-four years ago, she was the youngest of eight children of the late William and Therese Kortvelyesi. She moved to this country in 1947 with her husband Victor, whom she had met in Austria during World War II. She became a citizen and took up residence in North Woburn, where they raised their five children.

Helen worked at Sylvania for many years and had many friends. When her children were young she enjoyed cooking, and was particularly known for her Hungarian recipes, which everyone loved. An excellent seamstress, she made clothing for her children and tailored clothes for others.

She often visited her birthplace, Budapest, Hungary, where her brothers and sisters’ families remained, and her sister in Germany. She also frequently visited another sister and niece in Delaware, and took many trips to Atlantic City. She and her husband were avid bowlers, and she belonged to a bowling league in Reading for many years.

Helen was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren. When she was younger and able to care for them, they always enjoyed being around “O Ma,” as she was affectionately known.

In addition to her husband Victor, she was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Helen Borelli of New Hampshire, Rita Reale and her husband Louis of Las Vegas, Nevada, and three sons, Victor S. Borelli and his wife Kathy of Prescott, Arizona, Kenneth Borelli and his wife Eliziane of Fitchburg and Robert Borelli and his wife Theresa of Woburn. She was also the loving grandmother ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, October 28th at 11 a.m. Interment is private.
