DOROTHY A. (HYDE) DUNCAN – in Woburn, June 27th. Beloved wife of the late Edward J. Duncan. Devoted mother of Karen Duncan of N. Reading, Kimberly Duncan of Las Vegas, Nevada, Robert Duncan and his wife Cheryl of Reading, Donald Duncan and his wife Beth of Woburn, and Lisa Guglielmi and her husband Eric of Malden. Dear sister of Robert Hyde and his wife Dorothy of Natick and the late Arthur Hyde. Sister-in-law of Barbara Hyde of Salem, New Hampshire. Beloved grandmother of Michael and Scott Donnelly, Robert, Joseph, and Daniel Duncan, Elyssa and Elizabeth Duncan, and Cassandra Guglielmi. Also survived by one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, June 30th, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will take place in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02110.

OBITUARY:

Dorothy A. Duncan of Woburn passed away at Northeast Specialty Hospital in Braintree early Sunday morning, June 27th, following a lengthy illness. The wife of the late Edward J. Duncan, who died in 1991, she was sixty-five years of age.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Weldon) Hyde. She was raised in Arlington and Winchester and graduated from Winchester High School.

She lived in Reading for a number of years, where she raised her family, and later lived in Salem, NH, and Woburn.

Dorothy worked as a sales clerk at the Family Dollar store in Woburn center, and previously at K-Mart in Salem, NH.

She enjoyed reading, particularly historical novels, cooking, and traveling. Four years ago, before she took ill, she and her daughter Karen enjoyed a wonderful trip to Scotland and England.

Surviving her are five children: Karen Duncan of N. Reading, Kimberly Duncan of Las Vegas, Nevada, Robert Duncan and his wife Cheryl of Reading, Donald Duncan and his wife Beth of Woburn, and Lisa Guglielmi and her husband Eric of Malden. a brother,Robert Hyde and his wife Dorothy of Natick, and sister-in-law, Barbara Hyde of Salem, New Hampshire.

She was also the beloved grandmother of Michael and Scott Donnelly, Robert, Joseph, and Daniel Duncan, Elyssa and Elizabeth Duncan, and Cassandra Guglielmi, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Hyde.

A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, June 30th, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will take place in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
