GRACE D. (BOYLE) O’NEILL – in Woburn, Sunday, June 20th. Beloved wife of the late Frederick M. O’Neill. Devoted mother of George F. O’Neill and his wife Ruth of Woburn, Joanne E. Grant and her husband Lloyd of Dunstable and Janice M. Torrice and her husband George of Merrimack, NH. Dear sister of the late Edward, James, Frederick, Henry, George, Daniel, Steve, Ella, Mae, Mildred, Carlene and Lillian Boyle. Loving grandmother to Erin Bucclatto, Colleen Madden, Kelly Trepaney, Daniel Torrice, Michael and James O’Neill and Shannon Grant and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday, June 24th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn.at 10:30. Calling hours Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Grace’s memory to the VNA of Middlesex East Hospice, 320 Haverhill Street, Reading, MA 01867. Retired Woburn School Teacher.

OBITUARY:

Grace D. (Boyle) O’Neill, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away quietly after a long illness, on Sunday, June 20th at her home surrounded by her family. The beloved wife of the late Frederick M. O’Neill, she was ninety-two years of age.

Born in Winchester, Grace was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Ruddy) Boyle. Raised and educated in Winchester, Grace was a graduate of Winchester High School. She continued her education at Lowell State College, graduating with a B.A. in Education. After graduating, she began her career as an elementary teacher at a lighthouse school off of Cape Cod. At the age of twenty-eight she Grace put her career on hold to marry her husband Frederick O’Neill and raise their three children in Woburn, where they made their home.

One of thirteen children, Grace was very family oriented and was especially devoted to her husband, to whom she was married for forty-four years, and her children. After her children were grown, she resumed her career as an elementary school teacher at the Tarky School in Woburn. She taught the sixth grade for a number of years and then the third grade before retiring.

Grace thoroughly enjoyed her retirement years, as she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed eating out and listening to music. A very active member in St. Charles Parish Church, Grace often assisted setting up the altar. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

Grace was predeceased by her husband Frederick M. O’Neill, who passed away in 1984, her siblings Edward, James, Frederick, Henry, George, Daniel, Steve, Ella, Mae, Mildred, Carlene and Lillian Boyle.

She is survived by her children, George F. O’Neill and his wife Ruth of Woburn, Joanne E. Grant and her husband Lloyd of Dunstable and Janice M. Torrice and her husband George of Merrimack, NH, her grandchildren, Erin Bucclatto, Colleen Madden, Kelly Trepaney, Daniel Torrice, Michael and James O’Neill and Shannon Grant, and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Thursday, June 24th, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10:30. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home are on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Grace’s memory to the VNA of Middlesex East Hospice, 320 Haverhill Street, Reading, MA 01867.

  2. We will miss you Grandma. We love you and will miss all the Friday and Saturday nights spent at restaurants together. We can only hope that Saint Peter knows to bring the coffee when the food comes!
