Catherine A. Kay??? (Clancy) Flaherty, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away at the Woburn Nursing Center on Tuesday morning, June 8th, following a lengthy illness. The beloved wife of the late John P. Flaherty, she was seventy-nine years of age.
Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary (Gibbons) Clancy. She was a 1941 graduate of St. Charles High School and attended Fisher Jr. College in Boston. After completing her education, Kay worked for the New England Telephone Company. Her family was of primary importance in her life.
When her children were older, she worked mothers hours at R.H. Stearns Distribution Center in Woburn and Boston. Kay also worked at Epsilon Data Management, Inc. in Burlington for many years before retiring in 1989.
Kay was predeceased by her husband John P. Flaherty who passed away in 1988, her sisters, Elinore Holland, Louise Murray, Rita OConnor, and her brother, John J. Clancy
She is survived by her daughter, Jane McQuilkin of Woburn, her son John Jay??? Flaherty of Maryland, and four grandchildren, Randy McQuilkin, John, Matthew and Kara Flaherty.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch- Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, June 11th, at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 11. Interment will take place in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
