JEANNETTE C. “CONNIE” (MURRAY) HALLIDAY – in Florida, formerly of Woburn, Monday, June 7th. Beloved wife of William J. Halliday and the late Alexander Gillis. Devoted mother of Edward Gillis and his wife Maureen of Florida, Linda Bouchie and her husband Richard of Wilmington, Susan Carroll of Woburn and her late husband Paul Carroll, and Maryellen Carbone and her husband Ralph of Nashua, NH. Dear sister of Mary Kiley of Mashpee and the late Margaret Connor and Claire Forti. Loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Saturday, June 12th, at 8:15 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 9. Calling hours Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

OBITUARY:

Jeannette “Connie??? C. Halliday, formerly of Woburn, passed away Monday, June 7th in Clearwater, Florida. The beloved wife of William J. Halliday and the late Alexander Gillis, she was eighty-one years of age.

Born in Boston, Connie was the daughter of the late Edmond and Jeannette (MacDonald) Murray. Educated and raised in Winthrop, Connie graduated from Winthrop High School in 1941. As a young woman, she was an award winning Drum Majorette for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, which earned her the opportunity to travel throughout the United States. She was also employed with the New England Telephone Company in Boston.

She and her late husband Alexander Gillis had made their home in Woburn where their raised their four children. Connie was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother to eleven grandchildren. Just two days after her death on Monday, her first great-granddaughter was born. She also shared her attention with her much loved poodle “Missy???.

In 1977, the family moved to Wilmington. Connie was employed as management for Purity Supreme for twenty-six years before retiring in 1987. Shortly after retiring, she and her husband William Halliday made their home in Florida, as she had always loved the beach. Connie was also a talented seamstress and loved to dance.

Connie was predeceased by her first husband Alexander Gillis who passed away sixteen years ago, her sisters, Margaret Connor and Claire Forti, and her son-in-law, Paul Carroll, who died just two weeks ago.

She is survived by her husband William J. Halliday, her children, Edward Gillis and his wife Maureen of Florida, Linda Bouchie and her husband Richard of Wilmington, Susan Carroll of Woburn, Maryellen Carbone and her husband Ralph of Nashua, NH, her sister, Mary Kiley of Mashpee, eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Saturday, June 12th, at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 9. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
