ROBERT E. SWANSON – in Falmouth, formerly of Allston and Watertown, May 1st. Beloved husband of Jean R. (Finnegan) Swanson. Devoted father of Robert E. Swanson, Jr. and his wife Linda of Falmouth, Deborah Swanson and her husband Ronald McDermott of Lexington, Marjorie Roache and her husband Michael of Wilmington, Jeana Calleva and her husband John of Watertown, and Linda Stinehart and her husband John of Winchendon. Brother of the late Dorothy Griffin and John and Allen Swanson. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, May 4th, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101 First Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451. Late member Local 1044 International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades.

OBITUARY:

Robert E. Swanson of Falmouth passed away at his home Saturday morning, May 1st, following a long illness. He was the husband of Jean R. (Finnegan) Swanson.

Raised in Allston, he was the son of the late Emil and Eva (Naughton) Swanson. He graduated from Brighton High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

For most of his life he worked as a truck driver, and most recently worked for PPG Industries. He was a member of Local 1044 International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades.

Mr. Swanson lived with his family in Watertown and Allston before moving to Falmouth six years ago.

Preceding him in death were a sister, Dorothy Griffin and two brothers, John and Allen Swanson.

Surviving in addition to his wife Jean are a son, Robert E. Swanson, Jr. and his wife Linda of Falmouth, four daughters, Deborah Swanson and her husband Ronald McDermott of Lexington, Marjorie Roache and her husband Michael of Wilmington, Jeana Calleva and her husband John of Watertown, and Linda Stinehart and her husband John of Winchendon.

He was the beloved grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, May 4th, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
